no money

about

it's not fashionable these days to have songs that are social commentaries but I couldn't help but reflect on how, in Britain and the US, our bankers and politicians managed to create a huge fiscal mess that they just walked away from, whereas in Iceland they were held accountable and were made to take responsibility for their awful deals and decisions. This song was done with a big nod in the musical direction of Bessie Smith :)

lyrics

Got no money, you can’t eat
No money, you can’t sleep
Got no money, you can’t play
With no money you just can’t pay

Got no dollars, cents or rupees
Got no sterling, some kind of disease
No money it’s the worm in your brain
All this worry’s going to drive you insane

And all the bankers, politicians too
They’ve gone and dumped all their debt on you
Gone and dumped all their debt on you
What can you do, what can you say?
Does it really have to be this way?

Are we gonna have to wait until the judgement day?
Are we gonna have to wait until the judgement day?
