Lonely People

from Where Time Suspends by Rosie Nimmo

/

about

this was inspired by the Marilynne Robinson novels based on people in her fictional town of Gilead. the theme in the books is predominantly of loneliness and lack of communication with others. very much a theme of our times.

lyrics

I was reading a book the other day
about everyday people and the roles they all play
well that's when it hit me, kind of blew me away
there's an epidemic in the world today

there are so many lonely people
so many people with so much to give
you're bound to know some of these people
just like me and you they all have lives to live

maybe it's your sister, maybe it's your brother
these are our daughters and our sons

let's talk about forgiveness
love and understanding
things that really matter to everyone

try to be present
to be there when they need you
learn to really listen to their unspoken words because

there are too many lonely people
so many people with so much to give
you're bound to know some of these people
just like me and you they all have lives to live
